Candace Washington

Candace is a Ph.D. Student and lecturer in the School of Building Construction (College of Design) at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).  Her area of research is focused on the Barriers and Potential Solutions to Gender Diversity in the Construction Industry, specifically exploring the perceptions and factors that impact female students' career selection in construction.  Candace's research will include pathways in STEM education, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and Construction Management programs that aid universities in identifying strengths and weaknesses in recruiting and retaining female students. 

Candace is the CEO and Founder of Cancave Management and Cancave Engineering, privately-owned construction management and engineering firms. Candace is a licensed General Contractor and has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of construction project management. She has worked in this professional capacity for over 25 years, with construction management, capital improvement initiatives, facility master planning, and project management responsibilities. Candace holds a Bachelor of Business Management, a Master of Science in Project Management, and a Master of Science in Building Construction and Facility Management.
