Georg Reichard is a professor and the chair of the Georgia Tech School of Building Construction. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Reichard was the Department Head of Building Construction and Professor at Virginia Tech, where he also served as the Associate Director of Operations in the Myers-Lawson School of Construction. He was the Director of the Building Enclosure & Systems Technology Lab, where he explored integrated systems technology solutions for buildings, advanced building materials, and building envelope innovations.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the broader areas of civil engineering, architectural engineering, and building construction. For his research, he has secured funding from DOE, NASA, NSF, DOL, and other national funding agencies totaling more than $20M. In his current research, he focuses on building performance, disaster resilience, enclosure durability, and integrated decision-making for retrofit solutions.

Dr. Reichard is the author of more than 80 technical publications and serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Architectural Engineering. He currently serves on the Board of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) and as Past-President on the Board of the Society of Building Science Educators (SBSE). Georg Reichard holds a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering from Graz University of Technology and is a licensed professional engineer (AE) in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
