MetroPower Building & Construction Fellowship

The MetroPower Building & Construction Fellowship has been established as part of the The Next Generation Program sponsored by MetroPower’s parent company, PPC Partners. The program supports the advancement of the new generations of STEM professionals and is inspired by the impact of MetroPower’s history of service and leadership in the Southeastern United States. The program seeks to create opportunities for individuals to improve their skills, their quality of life, as well as industry advancement.

Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships

Support through assistantships provide an opportunity for students to develop teaching skills and hands-on research experience through apprenticeship with a member of the faculty. An important component of receiving a GTA/GRA position is that the student and faculty interests be reasonably aligned to provide the best possible experience.

Available GTA positions are typically advertised to our graduate students just before the semester in which they are available, and any graduate student may apply. The positions are competitive and generally filled based on aligning interests, knowledge, and background of class material between the faculty member and the applicant.

The majority of GRA positions are funded by grants or contracts awarded to the School's research faculty. GRA positions are typically hired directly by the faculty member who is, or soon will be, building a team to work on a particular funded project.

We encourage new and existing graduate students to learn more about our faculty and their areas of specialization and research. Interested graduate students should reach out to faculty to inquire about project openings and collaboration opportunities.

Students with assistantships receive a tuition waiver and monthly stipend and work 15-20 hours per week. The College of Design stipend rates as well as the guidelines for stipend levels can be found here: Stipends for Graduate Assistantships | Policy Library.

Graduate Student Type College of Design Stipend Levels Monthly Rates
Ph.D. GRA/GTA 37.5% time = 15 hrs/week $2,087
Ph.D. GRA/GTA 50% time = 20 hrs/week $2,511
